a. Starlings law
b. Anrep effect
c. Brody’s effect
d. Coanda effect

Answer: b

Positive inotropic effect following an abrupt increase in aortic pressure, which occurs in 1 to 2 minutes is called Anrep effect. It is also called homometric autoregulation – independent of muscle fibre length. Starlings law indicates increased force of contraction with increase in myocardial fibre length. Brody’s effect is increase in QRS voltage with increased end diastolic volume. Coanda effect causes the right arm pulse to be stronger than left arm pulse in supra valvar aortic stenosis due to the direction of the jet to the right brachiocephalic artery.
